China Daily is an English-language daily newspaper owned by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and published in the People’s Republic of China. Established in June 1981, China Daily has the widest print circulation of any English-language newspaper in China, with over 900,000 copies distributed globally. Published Monday to Saturday, the paper serves primarily foreigners in China, and is often used as a guide to Chinese government policy. China Daily is read mainly by an international audience, including foreign diplomats and tourists, as it translates major Chinese newspaper articles in its editorials. The paper also offers programme guides to Radio Beijing and television, daily exchange rates, local entertainment schedules and national and world news. The China Daily Group has 16 print publications including those on the mainland and Hong Kong, with dedicated editions for the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa.
